Reverend Canon Bruce Gillingham
The Reverend Canon Bruce Gillingham currently serves as a pastoral Chaplain at one of the Anglican Theological colleges in England, called Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, helping in the formation of Christian leaders in the Church of England, and in the world of work.
His interest in healing ministry began when he suffered a detached retina in a sporting accident. He served as a Hospital Chaplain in Plymouth, England, and has visited patients suffering from physical illness and mental distress in Oxford and the surrounding district. He is part of an informal welfare team that unites medical and pastoral experience in healing and sacramental prayer.
This Award was established to recognize when Chaplains choose to broaden their education in order to supervise, teach and mentor.
This arduous and lengthy process of intense education is worthy of being affirmed within this humble profession. The new Chaplain trainees benefit, as well all people they serve with Jesus’ healing balm – ‘bringing sight to the blind, liberation for the captive.’
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
II Corinthians 1:3-4
